The only fir native to the Northeast, with narrow, pointed, spirelike crown of spreading branches. Known for it's strong "Christmas" scent, branch trimmings are frequently used as natural garland during the holidays. It's also a major pulpwood species, interior knotty pine paneling is one of it's specialized products.
