How Our Inventory Works
-
All plants that we sell have a limited inventory. We place our nursery orders a year ahead of time for each sale, and we can only sell what each nursery has allotted to us.
-
You may notice that the tree sale form or online store continues to change during the ordering season, especially when we get into March for the Spring Sale. This is due to items selling out, so we recommend getting in your order sooner than later so that you can choose from more varieties.
-
Sometimes, we run into issues from nurseries having to cut numbers or cancel a species completely if they run into germination or inventory issues. When this happens, we contact each customer that ordered the cancelled species and offer refunds or substitutions.
-
Please remember that we're human, we're getting older, and once in a while we make mistakes. We average about 600 orders for the Spring Sale and there's usually 2 - 3 mistakes every year. We do our very best to make sure orders are accurate, but we do recommend checking you order before leaving the distribution facility.
-
Unfortunately, these mistakes can lead to shortages in our inventory. While we always do our best to make sure everything you ordered is available, we usually have a shortage on a species or two that shows up later in the sale.
-
We recommend picking up your trees on Thursday or Friday, as the shortages usually show up on Saturday. If we are out of something you ordered, we always offer substitutions or refunds for the missing items.
Late Pick Ups, Extras Sale, & Things to Know
-
We send out a reminder email for pick up about two weeks before distribution. We also keep this information posted on our website, order forms, and in our office.
-
If you forget to pick up your trees, please contact us as soon as possible to coordinate a late pick up at our office location. All orders not picked up within 4 days of distribution will be available for resale or donation. Refunds will not be offered for orders that are not picked up.
-
Extras from tree sales will be available at our office location starting on Tuesday after distribution, and will run through Thursday. The extras sales will be at our office parking lot, from 8:00am - 3:00pm.
-
The Tuscola Conservation District does not guarantee plant survival; liability ceases at distribution. All stock is bare root and comes dormant. They may not look awake yet, but plant them as soon as possible so that they can get started. Some plants will take a year to settle in and start growing.
-
The Tuscola Conservation District reserves the right to cancel orders, make substitutions, and refund payments; all orders are subject to availability at the time of sale.
-
All Tuscola Conservation District programs are offered on a nondiscriminatory basis without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, marital status, or handicap.
